Leverett Elementary School kindergarten students have been learning about Excavators in Science while working on a writing project. Students were delighted to get to see and experience a real excavator today from Hugg and Hall Equipment Company. Students had the opportunity to explore the excavator and share their writing projects.
Leverett Elementary School 3rd & 4th grade students participated in a Fishing Derby today at Bryce Davis Park! With the help of parent volunteers, students learned the basics of catch and release fishing while connecting with the outdoors. The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission supported the fishing excursion through a grant awarded to Leverett P.E. teacher Shae Newman. Students also enjoyed feeding the duck! #onefps

Leverett Elementary held their annual Engineering Fair last night. Families enjoyed viewing the engineering projects designed by Leverett students and engaged in engineering activities all around the school. The event offered hands-on learning experiences for the whole family!

The University of Arkansas’ Law Review partnered with the Leverett Elementary School Student Leadership Team and held a Student Leadership Luncheon today on the U of A campus. Fourth grade students traveled to the U of A Law school to learn more about becoming a lawyer and the importance of communication. Tracy Deffebaugh, Director of Admissions for the Arkansas School of Law, welcomed the students and presented them with gifts. Students competed in a cup stacking competition, an activity about communicating to achieve an end product. Thank you U of A Law Review for this fantastic opportunity!

Fayetteville Public Schools is hosting a Community Night of Coding event to celebrate Computer Science Education Week on Wednesday, December 6 from 5:30-7:00 pm in the FHS Cafeteria.
There will be hands-on computer science-related activities for pre-K through 12th-grade students and their families. Robots, minicomputers, games, crafts and more! Come play, make, and code with us!
Leverett Elementary’s fall STEAM night was a huge success! Students enjoyed learning about Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM) from a wide range of community resources. The event offered seventeen different hands-on learning experiences for the whole family!
Fayetteville area state legislators, Nicole Clowney for Arkansas, Denise Firmin Garner, Greg Leding, and David Whitaker visited three of our schools today as part of “Take Your Legislator to School Day.” They were joined by school board members and district administrators. The group experienced a variety of classroom settings with stops at the new John L Colbert Middle School, Leverett Elementary School, and Woodland Junior High School.
